Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Registered Nurse (Oncology Telemetry) – Ohio
Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Competitive compensation package; details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; ratio 1:3 PCU or 1:4-5 Med-Surg Telemetry; weekend shifts variable based on unit needs
Highlights:
- 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to progressive care level of acuity
- Oncology experience preferred but not required – nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this role
- High-acuity progressive care environment treating solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology patients
- Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and advanced equipment
- Strong interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and physical therapy
- 72-hour orientation to ensure successful integration into the team
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of progressive care (PCU) experience
- Current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months required
- Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (current and valid)
- Epic charting experience required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
Essential Skills:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Accessing and managing ports, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- Managing cardiac drips (with and without titration), PCA pumps, and insulin protocols
- IV initiation and maintenance, feeding tube care, chest tube management
- High-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Proficiency with isolation precautions, infection prevention protocols, and fall prevention measures
Preferred Skills:
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- Arterial line management and surgical drain care
- Phlebotomy and non-invasive airway management
