# Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN – Medical Oncology – OhioStart Date:

Compensation:

Schedule:

12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights or combination based on departmental needs). Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients, 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients. Weekend coverage varies based on unit needs.

Highlights:
  • 36-bed Medical Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care
  • High-acuity patient population including solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required – RNs with ICU and PCU backgrounds thrive in this environment
  • Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams
  • Advanced equipment including GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation systems
  • 72-hour orientation period with opportunity for one pre-approved time off request
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience (must be actively working within the last 12 months)
  • Current Ohio RN license or valid compact license in hand at time of application
  • Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, central line care, port access, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response teams
  • Experience with cardiac drips, PCA pumps, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
  • IV therapy skills including starting and maintaining peripheral lines and PICC line management
  • Willingness to float to other PCU or Medical-Surgical Oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • 2 professional references required: at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge nurse acceptable for second reference
