Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (days, nights, or rotating day/night based on department needs). Variable weekend coverage based on unit needs. Contract length: 16 weeks. Orientation: 72 hours.
Highlights:
- Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for PCU and Medical-Surgical patients with a focus on breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and reconstructive plastics
- Staffing ratios: Goal of 1:4, may flex to 1:5 based on patient acuity
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and more
- Charting system: Epic EMR
- Clinical procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, insulin and heparin drips, and chest tube care
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention measures
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (current and consistent within the last 12 months)
- At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
- Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
- Ability to float to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice
- Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
