Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night and Day Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Progressive Care Unit License: Valid state compact or state license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Cardiac experience preferred Must have strong skills in IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation EPIC experience required Description: Schedule includes 3x12-hour rotating shifts, consisting of nights and days. Weekdays and some weekends are required, with rotating holidays also necessary. Traveler will be required to float to different units as needed. This unit focuses on lower acuity cardiac patients. Patient ratio is 1:3-4. Primary service includes general cardiology with electrophysiology focus and overflow from open heart surgery. Common patient diagnoses include arrhythmias, syncope, chest pain, congestive heart failure, endocarditis, and lung transplant readmissions. Staffing support includes interdisciplinary team members such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. Patients may undergo special procedures such as pacemaker placement, arrhythmia ablation, and cardiac catheterizations. Strong skills in the management of dysrhythmias and oxygen administration are required. Candidates must be able to monitor telemetry and engage with Rapid Response or Code teams as necessary.
