TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Roanoke, Virginia, 24014!

Job Title: RN General Medicine PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Ventilator experience required EPIC charting experience required Description: Position requires a Registered Nurse in a General Medicine PCU. Shift hours are 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, 3 nights per week. Charting is done using EPIC. Weekend requirements may include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. All requests for time off must be included upon submission. The facility may call off one shift every two weeks. The nurse must work one holiday during the 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted. The unit typically has a patient ratio of 1:5, with a goal of 1:4. This is a hybrid unit consisting of PCU beds and ICU beds. Common diagnoses include DKA, COPD, sepsis, and chronic respiratory failure. Patients may be vent/trach dependent. Remote telemetry is utilized on the unit. Floating within the skillset may be required. Required clinical skills include: Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management. IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration. Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration). Respiratory support and non-invasive airway management. Rapid response and code team activation. Isolation precautions and telemetry settings. The daily census is expected to be around 12 patients. The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary teams. This position may not be ideal for first-time travelers.
