Opportunity:

PICU RN

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours per week)
• Variable weekend schedule required
• Self-scheduling available; shifts can be worked consecutively or split
• No block scheduling required
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio of 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends
• Float between Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units as needed
• PICU experience required with a minimum of 1 year of experience
• Treat patients across all pediatric age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics
• Unit has 18 beds with a daily census of 15
• Charting system: Epic (required)
• Navy scrubs required for all RNs
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, central line/implanted line care, continuous sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV vasopressors, management of dysrhythmias, pediatric step down, PICU, suctioning (ETT, NT), and ventilator management
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This is a children's hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 181 total staff beds. The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretarial support. The PICU unit operates with 18 beds and maintains a consistent daily census, providing specialized care for pediatric patients ranging from neonates to adolescents. Free parking is available in any unrestricted space, with bike racks also on site.
