Description:
This position involves day and night 12-hour shifts.
Shifts are from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Monday through Friday with every other weekend required.
The unit takes a mix of acuity from general medical to stepdown care.
Candidates should have experience with pulmonary lines and respiratory failure, which may require tracheostomy and ventilator dependence.
Knowledge of CPAP and BiPAP management is essential.
Patient population includes neuro, diabetic, nephrology, spinal fusion, intermediate, and general care patients.
Skills in administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, and assistance with lumbar puncture are needed.
Candidates should demonstrate care and management of ports and central lines, as well as expertise in feeding and infection prevention.
Responsibilities include insulin administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of chest tubes.
Nursing skills in starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry monitoring, and wound assessment are also important.
Pediatric dosage calculations and familiarity with telehealth systems are expected.
Travelers will be required to float as needed.
Minimum experience for travelers is two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty.
A telemetry exam will be required prior to starting the assignment with strict passing criteria.
Additional attempts to pass the telemetry exam will be allowed under specific conditions.
