Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30; 19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of Pediatric MedSurg experience required License: RN license required Certifications: BLS, PALS required - AHA only Must-Have: Epic experience required Telemetry exam required prior to start Description: This role involves working day and night shifts of 12 hours each. The position requires Monday through Friday shifts, with every other weekend being mandatory. The unit sees a mix of acuity from general medical to stepdown cases. Pediatric patients with pulmonary issues and respiratory failure, including those requiring tracheostomy and ventilator dependence, will be cared for in this unit. Non-invasive ventilatory support such as CPAP and BiPAP will also be utilized. Patient populations include neuro, diabetic, nephrology, spinal fusion, and general care patients. The nurse will administer medications, manage patient care, and perform various nursing procedures. A solid understanding of pediatric dosage calculations and telemetry monitoring is essential. The nurse must be skilled in the management of chest tubes, central lines, IVs, and other key procedures. Experience in a fast-paced environment and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams are critical for success in this role.
