Clinical Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse to provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. The Clinical Nurse will report to the Nurse Manager/Director and is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Identifies and meets personal educational needs.
  • Attends educational programs based on identified needs.
  • Utilizes patient education materials appropriate for the patient population.
  • Assesses the readiness of patients, families, and caregivers to learn.
  • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identifies expected outcomes for patient care.
  • Seeks guidance as needed for plan of care revisions.
  • Engages in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex needs, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
  • Performs bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Follows organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient/family needs.
  • Consults timely with appropriate resources regarding complex patient care issues.
• Leadership:
  • Develops goals for professional growth and addresses any limitations.
  • Achieves goals within the identified timeframe or renegotiates with supervisors.

  • Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
  • Makes use of multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
  • Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in care planning.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
• Research:
  • Reads relevant journals and articles applicable to practice.
  • Brings ideas and questions to staff for applicability assessment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.

Education

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).
• Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
