Clinical Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse to provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The Clinical Nurse will report to the Nurse Manager/Director and will be responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Education:
    • Actively participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
    • Attends educational programs based on identified learning needs.
    • Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
    • Assesses readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
    • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
  • Evaluation of Care:
    • Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance when needed to revise care plans.
    • Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary teams regarding patient care evaluations.
    • Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Implementation:
    • Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, focusing on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
    • Performs bedside point-of-care testing as necessary for patient care plans.
    • Adheres to organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.
    • Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
    • Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner for complex care issues.
  • Leadership:
    • Develops goals to promote professional growth and address limitations with assistance.
    • Achieves goals within specified time frames and renegotiates with supervisors as needed.
    • Facilitates intra/interdepartmental collaboration and participates in performance improvement activities.
    • Promotes cost-effective care and provides feedback to co-workers.
    • Stays informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.
    • Promotes a safe, clean, and secure environment for all.
  • Patient Assessment:
    • Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
    • Addresses appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
    • Synthesizes assessment data meaningfully prior to communication with others.
    • Anticipates the discharge needs of individual patients and families.
    • Develops relationships with families to empower them to advocate for patient needs.
  • Planning:
    • Collaborates with patients and families to develop or update plans of care.
    • Utilizes available multidisciplinary resources when planning care.
    • Employs a full range of communication methods to convey planning effectively.
    • Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
    • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
  • Research:
    • Engages with journals containing studies or articles applicable to nursing practice.
    • Raises ideas and questions for assessment by staff.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills & Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience.
  • Required Education:
    • Nursing Diploma, or
    • ADN or ASN from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Preferred Education: BSN or MSN from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Required Certifications & Licensure:
    • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (
