Registered Nurse (RN) - Flex Pool

Job Description:

Registered Nurses (RNs) in the Flex Pool will float between various medical and surgical units. It is essential for candidates not currently holding an active state license to apply for licensure upon acceptance of the offer. A Hawaii state nursing license is mandatory by the start of the assignment.

General Job Duties:

• Provide nursing care across multiple specialties including medical and surgical units.
• Assist with various procedures as needed within each unit.

Shift Requirements:

• 12-hour night shifts from 1845 to 0715.
• Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the initial week of orientation. Hours are not guaranteed.
• Holiday coverage is required.

Equipment Utilized:

• Meditech EMR
• Pyxis
• Wound vac
• Chest tubes

Required Skills and Experience:

• 2-10 years of nursing experience.

Licensures and Certifications Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Procedural Sedation, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

Floating Requirements:

Candidates may be required to float to other units, including:

• Medical Unit
• Laulima Unit
• Cardiovascular Unit (rare occasions)

Unit Information:

• Medical Unit: 77 beds
• Laulima (Surgical Acute) Unit: 18 beds
• Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds

Nurse to Patient Ratios:

• Medical Unit: 1:6 for days and evenings, 1:8 for nights
• Laulima Unit: 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
• Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves of absence.

Dress Code:

Professional nursing attire is required, including clean scrubs.

Training and Orientation:

An orientation period is provided for each unit to ensure comprehensive training.
