- Float: Required to equivalent or lower-acuity PCU and MedSurg oncology units
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
- At least 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Current acute care experience required
- Active RN license in hand at time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
- Strong telemetry nursing skills and experience managing high-acuity patients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with infection prevention and fall-reduction priorities
- Oncology experience preferred, but not required
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult PCU patients with complex medical and oncology-related diagnoses
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support safe patient outcomes
- Manage cardiac drips, heparin protocols, PCA pumps, and other advanced patient care therapies as appropriate
- Perform and maintain peripheral IVs, central lines, PICC lines, ports, feeding tubes, and related therapies
- Support respiratory needs including HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Assist with blood product administration, ABG interpretation, chest tubes, and surgical drains
- Collaborate with rapid response teams and interdisciplinary staff to respond to changing patient conditions
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols and help reduce fall risk on the unit
- Float to comparable oncology PCU or MedSurg units when needed
- Deliver attentive, patient-centered care while maintaining efficiency in a high-acuity healthcare setting
