Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

A dynamic opportunity awaits experienced Orthopedic Registered Nurses (RNs) to join a fast-paced unit specializing in orthopedic and neuro spine care. Nurses will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, managing pain, and supporting post-surgical rehabilitation for a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in a high-acuity environment, ensuring effective pain management for orthopedic and spine patients.
• Monitor patient progress, vital signs, and administer IV medications as required.
• Maintain a positive and collaborative team atmosphere, and adhere to unit protocols.
• Participate in unit-wide initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and care quality.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a strong background in orthopedic care.
• Preferred Skills: Experience with Epic electronic health records, BCLS, NIH certifications; ACLS certification and charge nurse experience are advantageous.
• Patient Ratios: Typical patient-to-nurse ratios are 5-6:1, with possible flexibility to 7:1 in extreme cases.
• Travelers: First-time travelers are welcome, provided they have Epic experience.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts.
• Options for 36 or 48-hour workweek.
• Every other weekend is required.
• Floating to other med-surg units may be necessary based on staffing needs.

Additional Information

• No holiday RTO will be approved during the contract period.
• Must successfully complete EKG testing prior to the start of employment.
• Unit specializes in orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patient care, with an average daily census of around 37 patients.
