Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a strong background in orthopedic care to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience, specifically in the orthopedic specialty, and the ability to manage a fast-paced environment effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing.
  • Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
  • Current certifications in BCLS and NIH.
  • First-time travelers will be considered, provided they have experience with EPIC.

Preferred Skills

  • ACLS certification.
  • Charge nurse experience.
  • Experience in Level I trauma settings.

Job Details

  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: Expect 5-6 patients per nurse, with potential flexing up to 7 in extreme cases.
  • Unit accepts 13-week contracts or longer through the end date of February 27.
  • Shifts are 12 hours, from 06:45 to 19:15.
  • 36 or 48 hour work weeks available.
  • Maximum RTO allowed is 7 days for auto-offers; holiday RTO cannot be approved.
  • Float to other medical-surgical units may be required based on staffing needs.
  • Every other weekend availability is required, with weekend make-up for calls.

The unit primarily serves patients undergoing orthopedic, neuro-spine, and post-surgical care, with an average daily census of 37 patients across 39 rooms and beds.

Special Procedures and Unit Information

This is a fast-paced unit requiring meticulous attention to patients' pain management and care needs. All confirmed COVID-19 patients will be cared for on their respective units, with no specific cohorting.

Scheduling

The unit offers block scheduling options including Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday schedules to enhance work-life balance.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty area.
