Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position requires an Operating Room Registered Nurse to work a 13-week assignment with a schedule of 36 hours per week, consisting of four 9-hour shifts from 0700 to 1630. The nurse will be required to participate in on-call shifts, which include one weeknight call per week and one weekend call every 6 to 7 weeks. Weekend hours are not regularly scheduled but will be required based on staffing needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Function as a circulating nurse in the operating room.
• Ensure all equipment and supplies are prepared before procedures.
• Assist with room turnovers and contribute to a teamwork-oriented environment.
• Work with various surgical specialties, including ortho, urology, OB/GYN, general surgery, and ENT.
• Maintain patient-centered care and integrate effective communication among surgical team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years of OR circulating experience preferred.
• Experience in a smaller facility operating room is essential.
• Ability to adapt to multiple surgical service lines.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Unit Information

• Standard operating room equipment and protocols will be utilized.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is maintained at 1:1 for surgical patients.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is EPIC.
