Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Baltimore, Maryland.

Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Shift Details

This position requires a day shift of 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, working three 12-hour shifts per week.

Patient Ratios

In the Operating Room, the patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:1.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience is required.
  • Experience in a Level II trauma environment is required.
  • Experience in a teaching hospital and Level I trauma center is preferred.
  • First-time travelers are accepted.

Weekend and On-call Requirements

  • Every other weekend commitment is required.
  • On-call duties will be based on unit needs.

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course
  • 8 hours of annual trauma Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred.

Floating Requirements

All clinicians are expected to float as necessary within their scope of practice to meet facility needs.

Block Scheduling

This position does not accommodate block scheduling.

Local Candidates

Local candidates are accepted.

Licensure Requirements

A Maryland or compact RN license is required upon submission.

Time Off Restrictions

  • Requests for time off (RTO) of 14 days or less will be auto-approved.
  • Every other winter and summer holiday will be required with no RTO approvals during these periods.
  • No RTO will be granted on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.

Unit Information

This position is for a General Operating Room setting, averaging approximately 40 cases per day, catering to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The RN will be part of a patient care team, providing safe and age-appropriate care while serving as a resource for patients and their families. The department supports advanced technology, minimally invasive techniques, evidence-based care, surgical education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Additional Experience Requirements

  • Proficient in Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic Procedures, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, and Thoracic procedures.
  • General OR and Trauma experience are mandatory.
  • Required case experience includes thoracic procedures, ENT procedures, endoscopic procedures, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma.
  • Experience with emergency OR response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia management, and latex allergy precautions is essential.
  • Familiarity with electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, and Steris equipment is required.

Charting System

The charting system used is Cerner/Surginet.
