Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Medical Oncology Telemetry RN – Ohio
Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotation or Nights); ratios 1:3 PCU or 1:4-5 Med-Surg Telemetry. Weekend shifts variable based on unit needs. Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing priorities.
Highlights:
- 36-bed oncology telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to progressive care level of acuity
- Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
- High-acuity PCU environment with strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety
- Epic EMR system; GE telemetry monitoring with Alaris pumps and Stryker beds
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; ICU and PCU backgrounds are highly valued
- 72 hours of orientation provided; comprehensive interdisciplinary support team including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Current certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- 2 professional references required: at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor
Essential Skills:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Accessing and managing ports; PICC, central, and peripheral line management
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- Managing cardiac drips (titration and non-titration)
- PCA pump management
- Feeding tube care and management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- High flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy management
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases
- IV starts and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
- Use of rapid response and code teams
Preferred Skills:
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- IV insulin and insulin drip titration protocols
- Arterial line management and phlebotomy
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- Surgical drain management and non-invasive airway management

Important Compliance Information:
This position requires strict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting requirements. Candidates must complete fingerprinting immediately upon contract signing. Those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible. Compliance deadline is the Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions. One pre-approved time off request may be built into the contract at time of submission.
