Contract Length: 16 weeks
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only); rotating shifts assigned based on department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
Highlights:
- Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med/Surg patients with a focus on complex surgical cases
- Patient population includes surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic/reconstructive surgery patients
- Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, maximum 1:5; 36-bed unit with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- EPIC electronic medical record system with GE telemetry monitoring
- Comprehensive orientation with 72 hours of training provided
- Float requirements within scope of practice to other acute care oncology units as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
- Current, active acute care experience within the last 12 months
- Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of application)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, tracheostomy care, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
Patient Care Details:
- Adult and geriatric patient populations
- Conditions treated include surgical oncology cases, hepatobiliary disorders, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive procedures
- Special procedures include management of oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome, medication drips, and complex wound care
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies
Application Requirements:
- Two professional references required: at least one must be from a manager, director, or formal supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference
- Requested time off must be identified at time of submission and built into contract
- Strict compliance deadlines apply; candidates must be responsive and cooperative throughout credentialing process
- Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing
- Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility; current employees not eligible
