Experience with isolation precautions. Ability to manage typical Medical Surgical IV medications and antibiotics. Description: The nursing unit specializes in Medical Surgical and Infectious Disease cases. It consists of 18 private rooms to accommodate patients requiring isolation. Staffing ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6, with adjustments during high-demand situations. Two Certified Nursing Assistants are available per shift to support patient care. Remote telemetry services are utilized, eliminating the need for RNs to interpret heart monitor strips. The unit follows a 12-hour shift schedule, with a half-hour break included. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holiday staffing needs will determine if additional coverage is required. Traveling nurses may be required to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed. Scrub color mandated is royal blue; specific dress code guidelines must be adhered to. The orientation process includes one day in preparation with a designated preceptor. Nurses participate in a collaborative environment with a Charge Nurse present at all times.
