Float ability to similar units to care for Med/Surg patients may be required. Every other weekend coverage is required. Patient diagnoses include colon surgery, Whipple surgery, cholecystectomy, liver resections, bariatric surgery, GYN surgery, mastectomy, hernia surgery, colitis, pancreatitis, abdominal pain, gastroparesis, bowel obstruction, and Crohn's disease. BCLS certification is required and ACLS is preferred. Unit accepts first-time travelers. Daily census is 32 with a total of 33 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Special equipment includes Alaris pump, wound vac, epidural pumps, and PCA pumps. Travelers must complete an OSHA respirator clearance prior to start. Fit testing is required, and travelers must prepare accordingly. All clinicians cannot work past one year as a traveler and must take a six-month break to return. Modules will vary in hours and are completed pre-start. Modules are recorded on transcripts.
