Description

Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Coastal North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Contract length 13-26 weeks. Weekend requirement: every other weekend (12-16 shifts per contract). Floating to similar units required based on facility needs.

  • 24-hour orientation with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response, respiratory services, and more
  • Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
  • First-time travelers welcome; minimum 2 years of experience required

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry nursing experience
  • Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula), wound care/wound vac, central and peripheral line management, and isolation precautions
  • Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, hemodialysis protocols, chest tubes, PCA pumps, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Completion of pre-start online modules (8-10 hours) using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
  • Availability to work during potential weather-related events as part of Storm/Hurricane Team protocol

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic EMR experience
  • Skills in accessing ports, tracheostomy management, surgical drain care, and arterial blood gas interpretation
  • Experience with CVA patients and on-unit telemetry monitoring
  • Previous charge nurse experience

Patient Population:

You will care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fractures, CHF, UTI, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and various surgical recovery cases. The unit includes an isolation area and multi-level care capabilities.
