    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

    Location

    Wilmington, NC | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide nursing care to adult patients in an ED inpatient holding area awaiting inpatient bed placement, managing any adult medical/surgical diagnosis
    • Monitor and manage telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, remote and on-unit telemetry monitoring
    • Float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed, with potential assignment to PCU-level patients (target ratios: 1:6 MS/Tele or 1:4 PCU)
    • Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including blood product administration, PICC line management, chest tube care, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, and interpretation of ABGs
    • Utilize facility systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
    • Participate in every-other-weekend rotation and be available for Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Medical/Surgical and/or Telemetry
    • Prior travel nursing experience required
    • Local candidates are welcome to apply (local rate applies)
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • NIHSS certification and experience with CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, or traumatic brain injury
    • Experience with IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, and accessing ports or central line blood draws
    • Orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, and wound care/wound vac experience
    • Proficiency starting IVs and managing high-acuity mixed patient populations
