Contract | Rotating Day/Night Shifts | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 07:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30 | Every Other Weekend Rotation | Holidays as Needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving an adult and geriatric population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service
- Care for patients including those from Department of Corrections facilities within a secured locked wing, always accompanied by a DOC officer
- Perform IV insertions and other clinical skills as required for the patient population
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, including identification of lethal arrhythmias and heart blocks
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Rotate between day and night shifts, with no more than 2 flip rotations scheduled in a 6-week period unless requested by the employee
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license required
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
- Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start — passing criteria: 80% or higher overall, 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole), and no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions; travelers have up to three attempts under defined remediation guidelines
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with geriatric patient populations
- Familiarity with correctional or secured-unit patient care environments
- Strong telemetry rhythm interpretation skills, including pediatric rhythms
