Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry setting.
  • New travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Local candidates will also be considered.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response/Code teams.
  • Management of bowel obstructions and colostomy/ileostomy care.
  • Feeding tube care and management.
  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis management and renal failure care.
  • Administration of blood products and management of central and peripheral lines.
  • PICC line management and starting/maintaining IVs.
  • Management of chest tubes and non-invasive airway management.
  • Oxygen administration, including the use of BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
  • Isolation precautions and wound care management.

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Charge experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience with telemetry and post-angiogram care.
  • Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and management of surgical drains.
  • Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and tracheostomy care.
  • Previous electronic documentation experience.
  • Community hospital experience is a plus.

Work Schedule

  • Night shifts available from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • 36 or 48 hour shifts accepted.
  • Contracts range from 13 to 26 weeks.
  • Requests for time off (RTO) should not exceed 7 days.
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
  • No on-call requirement.

Additional Responsibilities

Contract staff may be required to participate in designated teams during catastrophic events or disasters, and may need to float to other units as required.

Patient Diagnoses

Common conditions include, but are not limited to: diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia, hip fractures, congestive heart failure, urinary tract infections, and various surgical recovery cases.

Unit Systems

Utilization of Pyxis for medication management and documentation processes.

Orientation and Scrubs

  • 24 hours of orientation provided.
  • Expected scrub color: Navy blue or white.

Interview Process
