Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to adult and geriatric patient populations with a range of cardiac and neurological conditions.

Shift Information

• Options for 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
• Weekdays with every other weekend commitment
• Floating to different units as needed

Orientation

Orientation sessions are held biweekly on Thursdays.

Nursing Ratios

The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. During high-demand situations, ratios may extend to 1:6 or 1:7, where the RN will manage 5 of their own patients and assist with 1 or 2 patients under the care of an LPN.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
• At least 1 year of in-specialty experience is preferred but first-timers with the required experience are accepted
• Every other weekend availability is required
• Certifications: BLS/BCLS required; ACLS preferred
• Valid RN license in the appropriate jurisdiction; applicants with pending licenses will also be considered

Special Requirements

This unit consists of 39 beds and caters to patients with conditions including, but not limited to:

• Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Unstable Angina
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Unstable Arrhythmias and Other Cardiac Disorders
• CVA Surgical Patients
• Observation Unit with a high turnover rate (typically 36 hours or less)

Preferred experience includes:

• Cardioversion
• Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
• Thoracentesis
• Bone Marrow Biopsy
• Chest Tube Insertion
• Central Line Insertion
• Paracentesis
• Post Cardiac Catheterization and Angiogram experience

Must have working proficiency with commonly used drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Nitroglycerin.
