Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to both adult and geriatric patients within a cardiac unit, focusing on conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, and various cardiac disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care for a diverse patient population, including those undergoing procedures such as cardioversion, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and paracentesis.
  • Manage and monitor patients receiving required drips, including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitroglycerin.
  • Assist with post-cardiac catheterization and post-angiogram care.
  • Participate in floating within scope as necessary to ensure patient care quality.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with all health protocols, including vaccination requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year of experience in the specialty.
  • BLS/BCLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in charting within Cerner or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Experience with the following procedures preferred but not required: cardioversion, TEE, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and paracentesis.
  • Must possess a valid RN license for the state of practice; compact licenses are acceptable.
  • Ability to work weekend rotations, with a requirement of every other weekend.

Schedule and Orientation

  • Available shifts include 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, from 7 PM to 7 AM.
  • Orientation sessions are held bi-weekly on Thursdays.
  • Ratio of patients to RNs is typically 1:5, with variations during peak times.

  • This position may include floating to other units as necessary, depending on staffing needs.
