Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN – West Virginia

Schedule: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 3x12 or 4x12 schedule available, weekdays with every other weekend required, 36 hours guaranteed, floating to similar units as needed
Highlights:
- 39-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit at a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 838 staffed beds
- Diverse patient population including cardiac patients (acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, arrhythmias), CVA, surgical patients, and observation unit with rapid turnover
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with collaborative support from LPNs and comprehensive interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Experience with post-cardiac procedures required (post-cardiac cath, angiogram, PTCA); additional procedural experience preferred including cardioversion, TEE, thoracentesis, and central line management
- Cerner charting system, royal blue/white scrubs provided, free parking for travelers
- Orientation held every other Thursday with 16 hours of comprehensive onboarding
Requirements:
- Active West Virginia or Compact RN license (pending license accepted for submission)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year in specialty (telemetry/medical surgical)
- BLS/BCLS certification required (American Heart Association); ACLS preferred
- Two years of telemetry experience strongly preferred
- Working proficiency with cardiac drips required: heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and continuous IV sedation
- Two manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles from facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case)
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption provided; COVID-19 vaccination not required
