Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement of 2 out of 3 holidays
• Potential to be placed on call or standby
• Must be able to float to like units and patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 on day shift and 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratio
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including orthopedic, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
• Must be comfortable with IV starts as there is no IV team on site
• Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge required; telemetry monitoring reviewed in ICU daily
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with CPAP equipment on unit
• Hospitalist available until 6:00 PM daily, then telemed utilized
• Nurse aids available on unit
• Travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
• 1 year of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Acute care experience required
• Experience with TURPS-CBI preferred
• Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience preferred
• Solid professional scrubs required, no specific color
• Required certification: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
• Orientation includes computer education on day 1 (8 hours education, 4 hours shadowing), day 2 is a full 12-hour orientation shift, and day 3 the clinician works independently
• Must clock in and out at the facility

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Trauma Level 4 critical access hospital offering inpatient and observation services with up to 24 inpatient beds and 10 observation or day surgery cases per day. The facility provides a collaborative team nursing environment with LPN support and access to respiratory therapy around the clock. The organization serves a diverse patient population with a broad range of medical, surgical, and telemetry needs, offering travelers an opportunity to build skills in a community-based acute care setting with limited onsite resources.
