The schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts. A rotating contract may involve working days, nights, or a combination, as needed. The unit focuses on patient care involving continuous cardiac monitoring and treatment for various malignancies. The role involves administering chemotherapy, managing symptoms related to cancer treatment, and addressing comorbidities. There is a heavy emphasis on infection prevention and minimizing patient falls. Special equipment used includes telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, and infusion pumps. Nurses are required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as staffing needs dictate. Knowledge in the following areas is essential: - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Port access - Blood product administration - Central line care - IV starting - Chest tube assistance - High flow nasal cannula management - Interpretation of ABGs Candidates should be prepared to complete fingerprinting and credentialing processes urgently upon contract acceptance. Two professional references are required, with at least one from a supervisory position. The facility’s patient population consists primarily of adults and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses include various types of cancer and treatment-related conditions. Interdisciplinary support services such as physical therapy and pharmacy will be available to assist patient care.
