Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30; 19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2+ years recent PCU experience required License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge RN experience preferred - Experience with adult and geriatric patient population preferred - Teaching hospital experience preferred Description: The unit consists of 22 beds. The average daily census is 20 patients. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Common cases include burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries. Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy. The schedule involves 12-hour rotating shifts. Floating within the organization is required as needed. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, transportation, and rapid response teams. Patient diagnoses include burns, plastic surgery, urology, GYN surgeries, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries. The unit utilizes EPIC documentation and a Pyxis medication system. The team is expected to manage various clinical skills, including arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates are required to understand protocols for isolation and patient care. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
