Description:
Seeking an experienced RN for the MedSurg/Tele unit.
The unit has 16 beds with an average census of 16 patients.
Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, abdominal pain, and COPD exacerbation.
Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-6, LPN: 1:4-6, and CNA: 1-2 per shift.
Trach care, chest tube management, and insulin drips are required skills.
Discharge planning knowledge and patient education experience is essential.
Support includes CNAs for basic patient care and unit secretarial support during specific hours.
Charge nurses may have patient assignments.
Resource nurses are available, including discharge nurses and a resource team that floats to all units.
Telemetry monitoring is provided by a central telemetry unit.
Technology includes EPIC EMR and various patient monitoring equipment.
Floating may occur to all adult MedSurg/Telemetry units in the facility.
Weekend rotation is required with approximately 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 in a 6-week schedule.
Holiday expectations include working one shift during major holidays.
The unit culture is busy, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
High turnover of patients is expected as the unit beds patients waiting for inpatient admission.
