Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg II

Shift Details

This position is for night shifts covering 4x12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15. There is no block scheduling available.

General Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse in this role will provide comprehensive nursing care on the Med Surg II unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and interpreting telemetry and dysrhythmias.
• Providing management for various conditions, including renal failure and post-operative care.
• Administering medications and blood products.
• Providing wound care and managing surgical drains.
• Performing procedures related to IV therapy and central line management.
• Utilizing Rapid Response/Code teams as necessary.
• Caring for patients with a range of diagnoses, including diabetes, COPD, and sepsis.

Patient Care Ratios

The nurse to patient ratio on this unit is 1:6.

Contract Details

• Contracts of 13 to 26 weeks are accepted.
• Staff may be required to float to the main campus.
• Must be available to work alternating weekends.

Requirements

Required Skills and Certifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry.
• Experience with the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Proficiency in the administration and care of feeding tubes and colostomies.
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• ACLS certification.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• Experience with electronic documentation systems.

Additional Information

All contract staff will join a Storm Team and may be required to report for work during catastrophic events or mass casualties. Orientation for the unit will be 24 hours, and navy blue or white scrubs are required.
