Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg II telemetry unit. This position involves working night shifts, providing high-quality patient care to a diverse population, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients in a telemetry and medical-surgical setting.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and manage blood product transfusions.
• Conduct pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
• Care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomies, and ileostomies.
• Assist in the management of chronic and acute conditions such as renal failure and diabetes.
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as necessary during emergencies.
• Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, and PICC line management.
• Implement care plans inclusive of wound care, isolation precautions, and oxygen administration.
• Support patient mobility and education regarding ongoing care needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• First-time travelers are welcome.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
• Charge experience and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and electronic documentation is advantageous.
• Ability to float to main campus as needed.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Work Environment

This role operates within a ratio of 1:6, focusing on high-quality patient care during night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Scheduling is self-directed, with shifts available for 36 or 48 hours per week on 13-26 week contracts.

Travelers may be required to work on the Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events and may be reassigned mid-contract if necessary.

Patient Population

The patient demographic includes individuals with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Diabetes
• Dementia
• COPD
• Sepsis
• Renal failure
• Various surgical recovery cases

Orientation and Scrubs

A 24-hour orientation will be provided for new hires. The required scrubs for this position are navy blue or white.

Additional Information
