Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry specialty.
The facility is licensed for 457 beds and is a Level 3 Trauma Stroke Center of Excellence.
The unit serves patients with chronic diseases, including congestive heart failure, mental health issues, addiction services, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes management, and wound care.
Patient care requires monitoring and treatment of patients requiring intravenous antibiotics for up to 6 weeks.
The average patient census is about 51 patients per day.
Patient ratios are RN to patient ratios of 1:4-6, with potential increases in acuity times to 1:7-8.
The required skill set includes cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, care for patients with tubes and drains, IV start skills, and wound care.
The department supports a culture of teamwork and accountability, with access to nurse managers, supervisors, and clinical mentors.
Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice.
Travelers will be scheduled for every other weekend, and holiday work is expected for 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
Shift scheduling follows a 6-week cycle.
Scrub color required is navy blue.
