Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within a Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence and Chest Pain Center
• Average daily census of 51 patients with common diagnoses including chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services requiring extended IV antibiotics, COPD, DM, wounds, and geriatric care
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with surge times up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Utilizes EPIC EMR
• Uses department equipment including scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, telemedicine cart, and doppler
• Floating required to other units within scope of practice, with priority given to travelers, and may include floating across Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics)

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General Med/Tele skillset required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care within a Med/Surg-Tele overflow unit supported by a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy blue scrubs required
