Description:
The facility is a teaching hospital with 457 licensed beds.
It is recognized as a Trauma Level III center.
The facility is a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence.
It also has a Bariatric Center of Excellence.
The unit has 32 beds.
Patient types include small bowel obstructions and various surgical cases.
Common diagnoses include colectomy, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, thyroidectomy, kidney stones, pneumothorax, and fractures.
Average RN patient ratios are 1:4-6, with surge times possibly reaching 1:7-8.
Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, IV starts, NG tube placement, ostomy care, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Support within the department includes certified nursing assistants, charge nurses available 24/7, and a resource nurse as staffing allows.
Phlebotomy services and respiratory therapy are available 24/7.
Travelers are expected to float within the region and scope of practice as needed.
The scheduled rotation requires every other weekend, with no on-call shifts.
Travelers will work 75% of the holidays and can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, which must be added to the end of the contract if quotas are not met.
