Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical - Neuro

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical - Neuro. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of nursing experience and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures and managing neuro diagnoses.
  • Maintain patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:5-6, ensuring high-quality care and effective communication.
  • Participate in blocked scheduling and accommodate the unit's scheduling needs.
  • Work alongside a Storm Team/Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disasters.
  • Assist in the float requirements as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in unit assignments.

Schedule

  • Shifts available: Night shifts (3x12-hour) from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Weekend shifts: Required 12-16 weekends per contract, with flexibility to discuss scheduling preferences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) certification is preferred.
  • Neuro experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.

Unit Orientation

Two orientation shifts will be provided on the unit following hospital-based orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the team.

Unit Systems

The unit utilizes Pyxis for medication administration, SBAR for communication, and EPIC for documentation.

Scrub Uniform

Scrubs are navy in color.
