Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Current Nursing License Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRPS Must-Have: - Experience in Labor and Delivery - Ability to work with antepartum and intrapartum patients - Experience with LDRP preferred, but LD/LDR experience acceptable Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care in a Labor and Delivery setting. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1, but may increase depending on patient acuity. This unit comprises labor and postpartum patients in the same physical space. The labor unit includes 11 labor rooms and 5 triage rooms. Nurses are not required to work in OB triage. The postpartum unit has 15 rooms, including additional flex rooms for labor or postpartum patients. Post-operative gynecological patients may also be bedded in this unit. Patient assignments will be based on patient acuity following established staffing standards. Other responsibilities include monitoring fetal heart rates and assisting with deliveries. Traveling nurses may float within scope of practice when necessary. Staff must be willing to work a minimum of 2 specified weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. On-call shifts are also required per schedule guidelines. Permanent employees of the health system must wait a specified period before returning as travelers. Compliance with training and module completion is mandatory prior to the start of the contract. Additional skills required include IV management, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care.
