Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Current and valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRPS Must-Have: Must have experience in Labor and Delivery Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a Labor and Delivery unit. The nurse will provide care to antepartum and intrapartum patients. The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 during days and nights. Occasionally, the ratio may vary depending on patient acuity. The average daily census in the unit is between 7 to 10 patients. The unit consists of 28 rooms and 33 beds. On weekends, the nurse will be required to work 4-5 shifts during a 6-week schedule. Additionally, there is an obligation to work a minimum of 2 specific weekend shifts. Nurses may also need to float to the postpartum unit as required. The facility handles both labor and postpartum care within the same physical space. The registered nurse will be expected to assist with both low-risk and high-risk deliveries. Skills in antepartum care, external fetal monitoring, and postpartum care are essential. Nurses will administer medications, manage IVs, and provide patient education. The registered nurse will work within established nursing standards and protocols. Patient assignments will be based on acuity as per staffing standards. The facility supports an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. All care will focus on optimizing outcomes for new mothers and their infants. The nurse will participate in monitoring and assessing patient conditions throughout shifts. Training on specific equipment and protocols will be provided as needed.
