    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / IMC / Stepdown)

    Location

    Greenville, NC | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intermediate-level nursing care in a pod-format unit with a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio, managing patients based on acuity comparable to ICU-level care at smaller facilities
    • Care for patients with acute neurological conditions including stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), seizure disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome, as well as post-neurosurgical patients (craniotomy, ventriculostomy, complex neuro-spine)
    • Manage trauma and transplant subspecialty patients including multisystem trauma, pre- and post-surgical care, and complex pain/wound management
    • Perform and assist with specialized skills including NIHSS assessments, lumbar puncture assistance, arterial line and central line management, lumbar drain care, tracheotomy care, IV starts, peripheral and arterial blood draws, and cardiac monitoring
    • Administer and monitor various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions
    • Collaborate with nursing assistants and the medical team to facilitate continuity of care, including ICU transitions for optimization of clinical outcomes
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state license
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
    • Must pass required Relias competency exams upon booking (2 attempts allowed; failure on the second attempt will result in pre-start cancellation)
    • Must reside at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in a PCU, IMC, stepdown, or neuro-specialty nursing environment
    • Experience managing neurological, trauma, or surgical patient populations in an intermediate or critical care setting
    • Familiarity with lumbar drains, ventriculostomy care, and complex neuro-surgical patient management
