Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in the region of Wausau, Wisconsin. This clinical role involves providing care on a med surg intermediate care unit with a focus on patient stability, ventilator and trach management, and trauma care. The position requires a commitment to patient safety and efficient unit operation, working predominantly night shifts as part of a 13-week contract.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or Ambulance Rescue Corps (ARC), minimum of 2+ years of experience, Stepdown/Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required. ICU experience and Trauma Level II certification preferred. Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required. At least one previous travel assignment preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree.
  • Float: Float to all inpatient units, as needed, typically to higher acuity units.
  • Additional Information: The unit has 36 beds in a med surg intermediate care setting with heavy telemetry. Patients include those with sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, and other critical conditions. Patient to nurse ratio is 4:1. Candidates should be resilient, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and capable of managing independently.
