Job Summary:
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position is located in a fast-paced, high patient turnover environment. The role involves providing specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular patients, including those recovering from CABG, valve surgeries, thoracotomy, arrhythmias, CHF, and other acute conditions. This is a 13-week contract starting on 10/05/2026, with a schedule of 12-hour days, and requires the ability to manage a variety of complex clinical situations independently.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), at least 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac step-down, intermediate cardiac, or cardiac ICU), and 2 years of IMC (Intermediate Medical/Surgical Care) or PCU (Progressive Care Unit)/Tele experience. Candidates must be able to pass an EKG test in the first week of hire. Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips is essential. Must have completed at least one travel assignment. One year recent EPIC charting experience is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed.
- Additional Information: The unit has 44 beds, with a typical patient ratio of 1:4, and handles a variety of post-op cardiac and vascular patients including those with arrhythmias, acute MI, and cardiogenic issues. Candidate must be resilient, able to manage change, and work independently. Scrub colors can be any. During flu season, any traveler declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times. GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation, but guaranteed during the contract period except during holidays when the unit may be closed.
