# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Stepdown / Progressive Care – North Carolina

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48-hour weekly schedules available. Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks. No call requirement.

  • Specialized neuro stepdown unit with 24 beds serving intermediate and medical progressive care patients
  • Comprehensive neurological case mix including CVA, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, post-neurosurgery, aneurysm repair, and seizure disorders
  • Epic EMR system with 32 hours of paid orientation including computer training and unit-specific onboarding
  • Contract lengths from 16 weeks through February 27, 2027 available
  • Float opportunities to other intermediate and critical care units for diverse clinical exposure
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and lift teams
Requirements:
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers cannot be accepted
  • Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or telemetry stepdown experience strongly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (CCRN, TNCC, and CPI preferred)
  • Competency in vasoactive drip titration including levophed, cardiac drip management, and insulin protocols
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and chest tube management
  • Skilled in central line management, PICC lines, blood product administration, and IV starts
  • Knowledge of neurological assessments, lumbar drains, post-TPA care, and substance withdrawal protocols
  • Must pass facility EKG competency testing prior to start date
  • Adherence to attendance policy and professional behavioral standards required
