```htmlJob Opportunity – Intermediate ICU / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – North Carolina

Start Date: October 2026

Location: North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend required. Contract options available including 20-week assignments. 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in IMCU setting. Float capability required to cardiac telemetry and med-surg units with ratios up to 1:6.

Highlights:

  • Fast-paced 24-bed Intermediate Intensive Care Unit specializing in cardiac, medical-surgical, renal, bariatric, pulmonary, and trauma patients
  • Comprehensive case mix including heart failure management, post-cardiac catheterization care, post-cardiac/vascular surgical patients, and dysrhythmia management
  • Advanced clinical experience with vasoactive drips, high-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, insulin drips, and non-invasive airway management
  • Epic charting system with PYXIS medication management
  • 36-hour unit orientation with self-scheduling based on unit needs
  • Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and lift teams

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive care or step-down nursing experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Demonstrated competency in telemetry monitoring, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, post-cardiac cath care, and post-cardiac/vascular surgical experience
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
  • Willingness to float to cardiac telemetry and medical-surgical units as needed
  • Ability to work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Charge nurse experience
  • Wound care and wound vac management experience
