Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Join our dedicated nursing team at Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. This role is integral to providing comprehensive patient care across the lifespan, with a specialized focus on obstetric patients, newborns, and postpartum mothers.

As an L&D RN, you will apply the full nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care through the comprehensive application of the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on established nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical resource person when situations require specialized knowledge or guidance.
  • Provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care to patients ranging from birth to elderly.
  • Administer treatments and medications accurately and safely.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and integrate findings into patient care plans.
  • Provide comprehensive education to patients, families, and significant others regarding care and recovery.
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule and demonstrate independent action within the prescribed limits of nursing practice.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLN-approved institution.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in Obstetrics (OB).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Current Fetal Monitoring certification.
  • Ability to pass and maintain competencies required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • National Certification in Obstetrics.
Skills & Competencies
  • Clinical Skills: Proficient application of the nursing process, patient assessment, medication administration, treatment delivery, diagnostic test interpretation, patient/family education, care management, adherence to AWHONN standards, operation of Fetal Monitors and Datascope.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and standard office equipment (computer, telephone).
