Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years of ICU experience License: State license in Michigan Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable with floating to Emergency Department and Step Down Description: Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk, and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plan. Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice. Facilitates and participates in patient conferences. Identifies and provides the means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons. Attends discharge/transfer planning conferences. Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or community. Teaches and guides professional and ancillary personnel. Precepts and mentors new employees and students. Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments. Communicates relevant information in a manner that is understandable and effective. Shows organizational skills through effective planning. Implements a strict attendance policy to support the needs of the patient population and ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Receives attendance strikes for absences, late arrivals, or leaving a shift early without prior approval. Provides for case-by-case reviews of extenuating circumstances, accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation. This policy supports the maintenance of staffing levels and care quality.
