Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Job Summary

Join the dedicated team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York, as a Registered Nurse in our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This 64-bed unit, featuring 15 designated Neuro beds, specializes in providing comprehensive care for adult patients (18+ years) requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions.

The IMCU manages a diverse patient population with conditions including neurological disorders, cardiac issues, trauma, respiratory compromise (e.g., COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiovascular step-down, and post-operative recovery. This role offers an opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to adult patients (18+ years) within the Intermediate Care Unit.
  • Manage and monitor patients with complex medical conditions such as neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, trauma, respiratory distress (e.g., COPD), DKA, sepsis, MI, and post-operative care.
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo.
  • Care for chronic ventilator-dependent patients, collaborating closely with Respiratory Therapy for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Accurately document all patient care, assessments, and interventions using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Float to other units within the facility as required by patient census and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
  • Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous travel nursing experience.
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility.
