Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in a 32-bed general emergency department, located in a busy healthcare setting. The role involves providing high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, including patients with general complaints, abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, behavioral health issues, and geriatrics. The ER team functions with a patient nurse ratio of 1:4, supported by a multidisciplinary staff, including emergency physicians, mid-level providers, and support personnel.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with shift times available from 0600-1800, 0900-2100, 1100-2300, 1200-0000, 1500-0330, and 1800-0630. Total minimum hours per week: 36.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications; minimum of 2 years of emergency department experience; licensed as an RN; experience with EPIC electronic medical record system; ability to perform lab draws and phlebotomy; strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-volume emergency settings and familiarity with hospital support equipment such as EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
  • Additional Information: Orientation includes facility and unit-specific training, with 1-2 shifts on the unit followed by independent work for 2-3 shifts to learn the workflow. No support for floating staff. Night shifts are scheduled for 4-6 weeks, with residents bidding on shifts around week 16 of orientation. Weekend rotation occurs every other week.
