Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Dialysis Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: In-Patient Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1 year of inpatient dialysis experience; First-time travelers must have 2 years of RN experience in acute care. License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CDN or CNN (preferred) Must-Have: Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a permanent staff member. Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Description: Candidates will primarily serve in an inpatient dialysis setting. They will float between multiple facilities. Patient types include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients, though peritoneal dialysis experience is not required. The ideal patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3 in inpatient pods and 1:1 on units. Technicians will assist nurses during their shifts. All staff will use specific dialysis machines and are expected to function independently. Critical thinking skills are essential for both nurses and technicians. Nurses will be responsible for accessing fistulas and dialysis catheters. Technicians will need to access grafts and fistulas and know the functionality of water machines. The schedule will include mandatory shifts with specific call requirements. Holiday expectations include working during specified holidays and being on call. Scrub color is pewter, and staff are required to wear certain colored t-shirts and jackets. Badges must be worn visibly and above the waist at all times.
