Description:
This is a new Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.
Travelers will have many educational opportunities available.
Patient types include: Sepsis, Cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and Pneumonia.
Occasionally, total joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and GI/Abdominal surgeries may be seen.
Patient ratios are RN: 1:5-6 during the day and 1:6 at night.
CNA support consists of 2 per shift, unless census does not call for it.
Wound management skills are required, including care of JP drains and wound vacs.
Experience with hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management is necessary.
There will be support available on the unit, including a charge nurse who is typically free floating.
HUC/Secretary is available on day shift only.
Phlebotomy is in-house; RN can draw CVL/PICC/Midline.
IV/VAT Team is available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for PICC placement.
RT is in-house, and hospitalist is available for most patients.
The electronic medical record system is Meditech Expanse.
IV pumps used are Alaris, and medication dispensing is done through Pyxis.
Travelers may float to any Med/Surg area within the hospital.
There is a weekend rotation that requires working every other weekend.
Travelers will work 4 days in one week and 3 days the next week, which is mandatory.
Time off requests must not exceed 7 days; any time off exceeding this requires additional notice.
Travelers are expected to work 2 out of 3 holidays during the contract.
Scrub color is pewter.
T-shirts should be gray, white, or black with appropriate monogram.
Jackets must be gray or black.
Badges must be worn above the waist and fully visible at all times.
